LOCAL FRIENDS TURN PASSION INTO UNIQUE RADIO SHOW

During twenty years of being best friends, Alan Brantley (currently managing and sound technician for Big John Thompson and the Rhythm Brothers Band) and Mike Perkinson shared many interests, central of which was their mutual love of Oldies & Beach music and each other.  After many road trips and dinners listening to and talking about old songs and the people behind them, the old friends decided that others might like to be in on the same conversations. And that is where “Behind The Music  with AlanB and Mikey” was born. The birthplace was 920AM WPCM, in Burlington, NC and the time of birth was July 25, 2005 between 6-8 pm. It has developed into more fun than they ever imagined and also more successful than anyone could have foretold. The Doctors, which performed the delivery, were none other than veteran Radio Surgeons Charlie Brown (The Legend) and Byron Tucker. The show consists of songs that are a little off the beaten path by otherwise famous artists and also, hit songs performed by artists which aren’t known for that tune. The show also contains banter and humorous bits between the two, which is fast paced, interesting and entertaining to say the least. The duo also includes little know facts about the artists and songs played as well as interviews with many of the performers with active, popular groups through the Southeast such as Big John Thompson of the Band of Oz, The Embers, The Monzas and most recent, The Rhythm Brothers. Also interviewed has been Howard Eaton of The In-Men Ltd., and currently The Attractions, Dave Bupp of The Magnificent Men of York, Pa., Lia Long of Lia and The Wave, Gary Brown, formerly of The Band of Oz, The Catalinas, Bill Deal and The Rhondells, Keevin Smith of the Attractions, Clint Horton of the Magnificents, Brian Crews of Crewser Promotions, Scott Fine of The Band of Oz, The Attractions and The Classics and his Dad, Paul Fine of the Classics, as well as many others.
